Amanda McGinty, DVM Owner and Veterinarian
Dr. Amanda grew up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and has wanted to be a veterinarian since she could talk and her family has always supported her dream. As a teenager she moved to the countryside of southeast Virginia on a small hobby farm where she discovered a passion for horse-back riding. After her travels were over Dr. Amanda completed her clinical year of veterinary school at Oklahoma State University and graduated in 2010.
After working as an associate veterinarian at three different clinics in various parts of the state, she has now designed a clinic that will bring affordable quality care to people in the Branson area as well as provide the much-needed care and assistance to the local rescues Dr. Amanda and her husband decided to start Shepherd of the Hills Veterinary Clinic because they have a vision to transform the standard of care to a more transparent and affordable nature without sacrificing the quality and compassion. She and her family live on a small hobby farm with 3 horses, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a guinea pig. Zora has been a Vet Assistant/Technician for 3 years now. She started her journey in Springfield, Missouri working as a receptionist, where they began training her every Friday as an Assistant. Her love for animals is what drew her to this career path, and she quickly fell in love with her job. It wasn’t long before Zora received another job offer in New Jersey working as a receptionist at a clinic. She took the offer, moved to New Jersey and began to build her career there. Within a month they started training her as a Vet Assistant/Technician. From there, Zora decided to up her career and started school to become a Registered Vet Technician.
While always harboring a deep affection for all animals, she began her career as a young teenager raising, training, and rescuing young/older horses that needed care and love. Additionally, horse therapy has always been a great passion of hers. She even helped her disabled cousin fight his fear of horses and taught him how to ride. He is now inseparable with his horse Joker. She has a dream to open a horse therapy farm for disabled children, troubled teens, and wounded warriors/soldiers. With her father being a disabled vet who loved to ride, she hopes to make his dreams come true again.
Zora has a 6-year-old black lab named Diesel who she rescued at 9 weeks old followed by a year-old kitten named Arwen who she rescued at 3 weeks old.
