Veterinary Holistic Medicine

At Shepherd of the Hills Veterinary Clinic, we strive to serve the Branson area with a unique brand of veterinary holistic medicine, where medical care is not a one-size-fits-all approach. We take into consideration all options—from traditional care to alternative therapies.

What is Holistic Medicine?

Veterinary holistic medicine encompasses a greater range of medical care than the traditional approach. It takes the health of the whole animal into consideration, from physical fitness to mental acuity and behavior. Our veterinary team utilizes herbal medicine to increase the overall health of the pets we see. With a history reaching back 10 centuries B.C., herbal medicine remains a prominent form of treatment all over the world.

Our Diagnostic Approach

In our approach to veterinary holistic medicine, we believe such long-standing herbal medical knowledge still has a place in modern medicine. Conventional medications still play a very important role in our treatments, but where herbal medicine may benefit your pet, we will be quick to suggest it.

Herbal medicine can treat a wide range of conditions such as:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Digestive problems and diarrhea
  • Arthritis
  • Sinus issues, chronic cough, and respiratory problems
  • Skin issues
  • Heart, kidney, and liver problems

Keep in mind that these conditions may be treated by a combination of herbal medicine and other therapies. Every treatment option will always be discussed with you in-depth to determine the right fit for your pet.

More Options for You and Your Pet

If you are interested in other holistic approaches to your pet’s health, we also have a referral source for acupuncture, chiropractic care, and laser therapy. We also offer titer testing in place of vaccines for animals who may already have the appropriate immunities. While there is an additional cost, it does save your pet from over-vaccination. Inquire at your next appointment or give us a call to learn more about our alternative options.
